Both Natural and Organic are segments showing growth. But was is natural and organic when it comes to pea ingredients? Is a pea protein isolate or a pea starch isolate made by the use of chemicals like Anti foaming agents, Nitric acid, Sodium hydroxide or Sodium bisulphite natural? And can an organic rawmaterial end up as organic finished products after such processing? Independent of what the approved definitions of Natural and Organic are, we are quite sure how the customers will judge it.
Sellers of isolates often call their products for concentrates instead of isolates or simply skip saying both concentrate or isolate. Why do they?
If you are offered a “protein concentrate” containing 60% protein or more, you should expect that it is an isolate and produced by the use of chemicals. The same goes for starch. If a “concentrate” contains almost no protein and/or more than 75% starch it is most likely chemically developed. Typically protein isolates are 70% in protein or more. If the protein level is 60-70%, it may be a mixture of chemical produced and Naturally produced. Knowing the true origin of the products you buy is a good insurance. The same goes for branded products. Vestkorn can surely claim that our products are Natural and that our organic products are truly organic. We are proud of our unique quality and we put the Vestkorn brand on all our products! All products by Vestkorn are made without the use of any chemical compounds. We simply dehull the pulses mechanically, grind the kernel and use air to separate the starch rich fraction from the protein rich fraction. No additives. No chemicals. No waste. No bullshit.
